Abstract

275,016. Foster, C. E. Aug. 3, 1926. Thermometers. - A temperature-measuring device for the combustion chambers of internalcombustion engines consists of a sparking plug having at its inner end the sensitive elements of a thermo-electric couple. A wire 4 and tube 5 are separated for the greater part of their length by insulation 18, but are in contact at the end 6 adjacent to the spark gap of the plug. At their outer ends they are in circuit with an indicator 25. An arm 15 on the tube 5 and the bent end of the wire 4 are secured bv set screws to an insulating block 16 from which pass the leads to the indicator. The thermo-couple element may be alloys of nickel and chromium and' of nickel and copper.
