Abstract
274,839. Bosch Akt.-Ges., R. July 22, 1926, [Convention date]. Commutators.-A commutator, particularly for small machines, is constructed by embedding a ring in a synthetic insulator and subsequently cutting the ring to form segments. In a cylindrical commutator, Figs. 1 and 3. a ring 1 is formed with radial hook-shaped projections 2, 3, which are embedded in the insulating material 5. Cuts 6 are made in the ring to separate the segments and slots 7 are formed on the projections 2 to receive the ends of the armature winding. The ring may be formed from a flat band stamped to form projections and subsequently bent to the shape shown in Fig. 3. For a radial commutator, a disc 9, Fig. 5, having projections 10, 11 is embedded in insulating material 13, and radial grooves are sawn therein. Slots are cut in the projections 11 for the reception of the armature conductors.
