Incrustation, preventing and removing.-An apparatus particularly suitable for preventing and removing scale in radiators and water jackets of motor vehicles comprises a cylindrical sheet metal casing 1 closed at one end and having a circular bulging 2, containing tannin which rests on a rubber disc 4. The casing is suspended by a wire 6 from the overflow pipe 5 of a radiator so that the open top is in the filling opening of the radiator, and some of the tannin is dissolved by the water which falls upon it. This apparatus is suitable for the removal of scale. When used for the prevention of scale, the casing 1 is inverted and filled with a hard mass of tannin and about 5 per cent of sodium carbonate. The mass is retained by the bulging 2, and is slowly dissolved in contact with the water. A screwed lid is provided for the container for storage or transport. Specification 241,361 is referred to.
