Abstract

272,617. Jungholm, K. J. March 18, 1926. Switchboards, distribution-boards.-In electric distribution boxes fuses accompanied if desired by switches have their elements arranged in rows parallel to the rear wall of the base or are mounted on bases parallel to the rear wall, a plurality of bus-bars being arranged in a plane parallel to the rear wall and situated beween it and one or more of the rows of switch or fuse elements. Connecting links are provided for joining the bus-bars to any apparatus desired within the box and the bases are provided with openings in their sides so that the bus-bars may extend into adjacent boxes. As shown in Fig. 1 the box 1 containing fuses 10 and a triple-pole switch 3, bus-bars 2 passing across the box in recesses formed in an insulating block 40 which is mounted between the switch base and rear wall. The bus-bars are connected to the lower switch terminals by links 4 and links 100 extend from the upper switch terminals to the fuses. The bus-bars may pass through the side openings in the wall and a connecting member 8 to a similar distributing box 5 placed alongside the box 1, Fig. 2. Leads may also pass through openings in the other sides of the box to other boxes or to outgoing cables. The above arrangement may be modified by placing the switch above the fuses or by arranging the bus-bars behind the fuses in which case the switch may be omitted. In the modification shown in Fig. 5 sets of bus-bars 2, 21 are placed behind both switch and fuse bases and these may extend laterally into adjacent distribution boxes in one or both directions, Fig. 6. By suitable arrangement of connecting links the switch 3 may be used to control any or all of the branch circuits. in the latter case acting as a main switch in the supply circuit 61. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 11 leads from the fuses 10 pass upwardly to a meter 51 in a box 50 above the casing 1 return leads from the meter passing to the bus-bars 21 behind the fuses.
