Abstract

272,325. Lewis, R. A. April 29, 1926. Cooling towers comprise an unimpeded shell 10, the lower portions of the sides of which are open to the atmosphere, and atomizers secured to water-pipes 21, 25 for directing the water both inwardly and upwardly in the lower part of the tower. Transverse, longitudinal, and inclined baffles are fitted in the lower part of the tower so as to prevent the water from being blown out of the tower by wind. The atomizers are fed with water from the sump of the tower, the inwardly directed atomizers being fed independently of the vertically directed ones if desired. The atomizers may be of the kind described in Specification 272,003, [Class 69 (iii), Spray-preducers &c.].
