271,745. Statter, J. G., (Woods, J. H. A.). Nov. 22, 1926. Borehole apparatus.-A pipe 15 is laid underground by driving from a trench 14 with pexcussive blows from a pendulous weight 13. A second trench is provided to which the pipe is drawn, to avoid breaking the intervening ground. The weight 13 is carried by a tripod 11 on an adjustable rod 12. A pointed obturator 17 is provided at the leading end of the pipe and a second obturator 18 to receive blows from the weight. The obturator 18 has an annular recess in which the end of the pipe is accommodated to protect the threads thereon. Supporting blocks 16 may be provided in the trench.
