Oil switches. - The explosion chamber of a switch has a removable insulating shield 20 arranged externally of the chamber and supported independently of the insulating bushing 10 through which the contact 17 moves to engage the fixed contact 4. The usual steel pot 8 has insulating liners 13, 14, and the bushing 10 is secured by nuts 11, 12 with an interposed insulating washer 27. The shield 20 is pinned to a bottom part 26 and to a ring 22 which rests on a flange 23, and is spaced from the pot 8 by spacers 25. In a modification, the shield has screw thread engagement with a ring carried by the top of the pot, and in two other forms the shield is supported at the bottom by a flanged nut.
