Abstract

270,033. Pearce, C. Feb. 22, 1926. Socks; linings; ventilating.-Socks or linings for covering the stockinged feet, or similar devices which may be combined with a boot or shoe during manufacture, comprise a portion 3, Fig. 1, of rubber or suitable waterproof fabric shaped at 3<a> to fit round the heel of the wearer, so as to have a grip at this part. The instep 3b may be provided with perforations 4, as shown, or arranged in any other suitable position. The device is provided with a sole or sock 5 of spongy rubber, or other air absorbing material to cover a rubber sode. Each step of the wearer expels air from the spongy material which thereby ventilates the foot. In a further example, Fig. 2, strips 6 of rubber sponge &c. are arranged in the side walls, or soft rubber tubes or ribs might be employed in place of or in addition to the rubber sponge strips. The strips 6 are shown vertical but might be placed differently.
