Abstract

270,002. Reyrolle & Co., Ltd., A., and Waterhouse, E. Feb. 2, 1926. Sliding switch-carriage arrangements for duplicate bus-bars of the type having sockets in the movable switch-gear member into which plugs are inserted before it is moved into engagement with the fixed switch-gear structure, have an operating member between the sockets and indicating gear which is made in two relatively-movable parts so that insertion of the plug causes movement of one of these parts and at the same time prevents the movement of the other part. As shown in Fig. 4, this operating member comprises two sliding bars G, G' operated by cams F, F<1> carried by a fixed framework E. When a plug is inserted in the upper socket A', Fig. 2, the rotation of the cam F causes its shaped nose F<2> to abut against the upper end of a recess G<3> in the bar G, so raising the bar and bringing a portion of its face opposite a flattened portion F<5> of the lower cam F', thus preventing the full insertion of a plug into the lower socket A<2>. Similarly when a plug is in position in the lower socket A<2> the upper cam F is held against movement by the front face of the raised bar G'. The upper ends of the bars G, G' are formed to operate the indicating mechanism shown in Figs. 1 and 5. The bars G, G<1> are formed with slots G<6>, G' having inclined lower ends O<2> on which normally rest cams K, K<2> carried by the shaft J. These cams are connected by crank arms K<1>, K<3> and links L<2>, L<3> to cranks L pinned on a shaft J<2> operating members M, M<1> which engage switches controlling indicating circuits as the truck is moved into position. The bars G, G<1> also carry projections O<1> operating indicating switches O on the movable switch-gear member. In addition. indicators N<1>, N<3> on the truck member are operated by sliding rods N which are engaged by the ends of the bars G, G<1> when they are fully raised. The cam K is secured to the shaft J, the cam K<2> being loosely mounted thereon, and in multiphase switch-gear the sections of the bar J corresponding to different phases are coupled together so that, if any bar G is raised, the consequent rotation of the shaft J will cause a partial raising of the bars G of the other phases after lost motion between their cams K and the upper ends of the slots G<6> has been taken up, Fig. 6. This partial movement is sufficient to prevent the wrong insertion of plugs in the other phases but is insufficient to cause operation of the indicator plates N' in these phases.
