Abstract

Dynamos, cooling.-In systems wherein air circulated as a cooling-medium through a turbogenerator b the air is cooled by a water-vapour refrigerating machine operated by an ejector d. This ejector is supplied with the exhaust steam of the turbine a and may discharge into the turbine condenser e. The brine or water cooled in the evaporator c is circulated by a pump through a surface cooler h around which flows the air to be cooled, in the direction shown by arrows 5, 8, and since the water is under low pressure leakage into the cooling-air is avoided. After leaving the pipes of the cooler h the water may be partly cooled by cooling-water, and may be returned to the evaporator or be wholly or in part discharged through a pipe 7 for boiler-feed or like purposes. The condensate is discharged from the condenser e through a throttle f and may be cooled by cooling-water before return to the evaporator. The liquid in the evaporator may be used for cooling other electrical apparatus such as transformers and switches subsidiary to the turbo-generator.
