Abstract

269,013. Claflin, C. C. June 23, 1926. Ink ribbons.-A device for reviving ink ribbons comprises means whereon the usual spools can be mounted after removal from a typewriter &c., reversible means for feeding the ink ribbon, and capillary or like means for applying reviving- liquid to the ink ribbon. In the device shown in the Figure, the spocls d are mounted on pins b on a base a and the ink ribbon g is directed by guides u over a roller q which is mounted above a container m for the reviving-Iiquid and runs in contact with a wick dipping in the liquid. The roller is mounted in cheeks r on the lid p of the container, and a liner for the container has a plate supporting the wick. The ink ribbon is wound backwards or forwards by means of knobs j secured to plates h which are mounted on the pins b and have studs k for engaging apertures in the spools. In a modification the spools are mounted on horizontal axes and are clamped by nuts to discs having bevel wheels co-operating alternately with bevel wheels on a crank-shaft which is moved longitudinally to reverse the feed. The clamping-nuts may engage spring- washers for braking the spools, and brake-pads may engage the spools.
