Abstract

268,176. Perry, E. J. May 27, 1926. Washing-machines with rotary receptacles. - The receptacle 5 is rotarily oscillated within the stationary casing 1 for washing, and is swung bodily from the casing to discharge the clothes &c., means being provided to position the receptacle before swinging it, comprising a band brake 54 acting on a disc 52 on the receptacle shaft 11 and operated from the rotation of the receptacle itself. The brake is applied by an eccentric 57 working in the eye 56 of the band, a lever 61 being provided to clutch the cam to the follower 64 of an eccentric 58 on the receptacle shaft. The cam 57 is linked to the lever (not shown) that controls the engagement and disengagement of the drive producing the rotary oscillations, the lever also releasing the brake. To control the swinging of the receptacle from and back into the casing there is provided a separate lever 90 which controls, through links 91, 92, cam 94, and belt-shifter 98, fast and loose pulleys 70 - - 72, which operate gearing for rocking the pivoted quadrants 85 in which the ends of the receptacle shaft are journaled.
