Abstract

267,872. Joyce, J. D. March 22, 1926, [Convention date]. Creel arrangements.-In a device for regulating the delivery of yarn from a rotating spool 26, of the type in which the amount of lap of the brake-band on the drum is varied by a compensator arm 16 supporting a yarn guide 17, the compensator arm 16 is mounted on a rod 34 which is in substantially vertical alignment with the axis of the spool 26. The rod 34 is under the control of a spring 12 and carries a collar 20 from which is suspended the hook 22 supporting the brake-band 23. The band 23 passes through a slot 29 in an arm 28 and the lap of the band on the drum 24<1> is initially set by adjusting the member 28. If the tension in the thread increases during unwinding, the rod 16 is flexed and the rod 34 partially rotated against the spring 12 to diminish the lap of the band 23'. If the tension decreases the spring 12 will tend to rotate the rod 34 in the opposite direction to increase the lap of the band 23 and prevent overrunning.
