Lathes.-An apparatus for making profiled articles such as spokes, boot heels, and the like, which is adapted to be used either independently or in conjunction with a wood lathe or other machine, comprises a base a carrying a frame c which can pivot about a horizontal pin band can also swing about a vertical bolt d. The work x is mounted between spindles m, n on the bracket and is rotated from a hand-wheel e through bevel-gearing g, shaft h, and spur gearing k. The shaft h, which rotates at the same speed as the work, carries eccentrics o coacting with adjustable levers q to impart the compound motion to the bracket c, the work being pressed by a rod r against a rotary cutter y and being finished in a single revolution. Certain profiles may be obtained by using one eccentric only, the bracket moving pivotally about the pin b.
