Abstract

Web-feeding arrangements.-In a paper-roll attachment for typewriters and like machines, one or more rolls V, are, as shown in the Figure, carried by a support Q running on upper and lower rails 9, 12 on brackets 1 secured to the framework A, the support having coned rollers 25 running on the top rail 9 and rollers 27 running on the rear of the rail 12, and the centre of gravity of the support being at the rear of the rails. Preferably the support Q consists of a rectangular frame 15 and two L-shaped members 22 having slots 30 for engaging necks in the roll spindle 31. The members 22 are secured in adjusted position by screws 24 which pass through holes in the feet of the members and enter threaded holes in the top bar 14 of the frame 15. The rollers 25 run on ball-bearing pivots 26 adjustably secured to a cross-plate 18 of the frame 15. The rollers 27 run on ball-bearing pivots 28 secured to the bottom bar 16 of the frame 15. The rollers 27 are held in engagement with the rail 1'2 by means of clips 29 which are secured to the bottom bar 16 by means of pivots 28. The rails are secured by screws to arms 6 riveted to the brackets 1, these being secured by screws 2 to the framework A and being adjustable by means of screws 5 abutting on the framework. The support Q is caused to travel with the carriage C by means of a pin 36 which is secured to the platen frame R and engages a slot 35 in an arm 34 secured to the support. The pin is preferably secured to a member 37 which fits over the tabulator-stop rod P and is secured by nuts 40, 45. The pin and slot 86, 35 permit shift of the platen frame R, and also permit adjustment of the support Q. Web-cutting arrangements.-The typed portion L of the web is torn off by means of a horizontal knife formed on an angular member 42 secured to arms 41 carried by the rod N that supports the front feed-rollers 0. Stops 43 limit the movement of the member 42.
