Vulcanizing - cores. - A A cushion tyre having a cavity at its base is made by culcanizing a tyre on an endless rim, the cavity being filled with a fabric or like bag containing a material in a state of division and capable of withstanding the heat of vulcanization, this material being subsequently removed through holes in the rim. In a central channel 6 of a rim 5 is placed a core 4 which may comprise a canvas bag filled with sand, the tyre 1 with base 11 of hard rubber is placed on the rim and core, and vulcanized in a mould 10. After vulcanization the sand is removed by an air or liquid blast through holes in the rim which are afterwards filled with metal plugs.
