Egg-cooking apparatus; baking trays and the like.-An egg poacher, usable also for other culinary purposes such as baking cakes, comprises an upper member a having a number of circular, triangular or other shaped receptacles d, and a bottom member b having projections g adapted to engage slidably and constitute the bottoms b of the receptacles d. Means are provided for lowering the upper member a with respect to the member b to eject the poached eggs &c. In one form, the relative movement of the upper member is obtained by a handle h mounted on a tube i attached to or forming part of the member a and sliding on a central stem j carried by the member b. The upper member is retained in the raised or lowered position by engagement of projections l, on spring arms m attached to member a and passing through apertures in tube i, with grooves k formed on the stem j. When lowered the surface c of the upper member a is on the same level as the bottom plates f. In another form, the upper member is raised by means of two handles hinged on.e at each end of the device, the handles engaging the underside of the upper member and raising it when turned up to the vertical position. The receptacle for the eggs may be of different shapes or sizes or both.
