Abstract

264,855. MiÚville, C. Jan. 23, 1926, [Convention date]. Thermo-electric batteries.-A thermo-electric battery comprises a number of couples each consisting of a metal cylinder 1 and a metal bar 3, adjacent couples being connected by a copper strip 5 as shown in Fig. 1. Two sets of couples are placed on opposite sides of a heating resistance 11 consisting of a mica plate of the shape shown in Fig. 8, the wire being wound on the riarrow portions which are placed opposite the junctions 2, Fig. 1. Fig. 6 shows in plan a complate battery in which the couples are held beÀ tween asbestos plates 12 pressed together by metal bars 13 and bolts and nuts 13<a>. The cylinders 1 are made by casting the metal between the strips 3, 5 the ends of which are placed in a mould 18 as shown in Figs. 11 and 12. The mould is closed by plates 20, 21, the upper plate 21 having openings 22 through which the metal is poured. The openings 22 are formed with a constriction as shown in Fig. 12 to enable the metal to be broken off when the plate 21 is removed. Specification 255,822 is referred to.
