Abstract
264,417. Kilian, F. July 28, 1926, [Convention date]. Packing pulverulent or like material into boxes or tins.- Relates to a process and apparatus for packing powders in boxes or tins. In Fig. 4 a rotary packeting wheel t is shown diagrammatically in extension. The powder is contained in a receiver f beneath which matrices m in the wheel pass in succession. The base of each matrix is formed by a plunger u. Upper rams o are actuated by a rail s to descend and receive a tin b in the hollow head k. The tins are beaded at d. The rams o reach their lowest position at position II and present the tins above the matrices so that the bead bears on the table surface and the inner cylindrical surface of the tin forms an extension or that matrix. The lower plungers u are raised between positions II and III to force the powder, in a compressed state, into the box. On further rotation, the portion s<1> of the upper rail raises the upper plungers until tappets v contact with the rail guide, and press the box out of the ram head on to a delivery plate t'. The matrices may be adapted to co-operate with tins of various sizes by inserting bushes. A slightly modified form of apparatus is described in which tins having a flanged rim are fitted.
