Monogrammic signs. - In apparatus wherein the matter to be advertised is provided on contact blocks the contour or shape of the letter, sign, &c. is formed by a number of spring-pressed or resiliently acted-on electrically conductive members mounted in the block so as to project from the lower face thereof to co-operate with a set of stationary or resiliently supported contact terminals in a. control board traversed by the blocks and in circuit with a bank of lamps. The blocks may be formed in two parts 4, 5, Fig. 4, the conductive members being removably mounted in the lower portion; both parts may be made of conducting metal or the lower part 5 may be made of fibre or other non-conducting material. The two parts form a unit held together 'by screws 8, Fig. 3, and the conductive members 6 formed as balls, rollers, wires, &c. are mounted in the lower part 5 and are projected bv means of springs 9. The part 4 of the block has upwardly-projecting portions 25, 26 through which pass pins supporting driving links 16. The blocks are maintained in contact with a control board 2 with a plurality of contacts 3 by means of bars 20 - - 23 under the action of springs 24. When the all-metal type of block is used the control board has metallic strips 17, 18 for preventing the lower surface of the block coming into contact with the insulated surface 19 of the board. The control board may also be provided with a removable section comprising a fibre plate with contact terminals arranged above the surface 19 and having spring-pressed pins projecting from the underneath side into contact with the contacts 3.
