Abstract

Screw sockets.-Relates to devices for fastening concrete slabs or other members to concrete structures, such devices being of the kind comprising sockets of spirally-wound wire, which have projecting anchoring loops, and are embedded in the structure for receiving threaded bolts. According to the invention, the loops c, formed at intervals in the length of the wire socket b, are twisted, to obtain a close-fitting socket and firm anchorage in the concrete. The socket is made from a single piece of wire wound round a screw, the whole being embedded in the concrete and the screw withdrawn when the concrete has set. Fig. 3 shows the application of the device in making a column. Standards d formed of concrete provided with wire sockets b as described, are set up, and slabs e of concrete, marble, &c. are secured to the standards by screws a engaging in the sockets. The space f is then filled in with concrete. Specification 27022/10 is referred to.
