Abstract

264,249. Molins, W. E. Oct. 17, 1925. Rotary intaglio machines; set off, preventing.- A multi-colour intaglio printing-machine for printing on webs is constructed to prevent set-off of ink on to the printing-rollers by pressing the printed side of the web into contact with a roller as 9 which removes undried ink from the web prior to its receiving a further impression. The web 17 is printed by an intaglio roller 1 receiving ink from a transfer roller 2 rotating in a duct 3 and maintained by a spring 5 is contact with the roller 1, which is fitted with a reciprocating ductor blade 6. The web is pressed against the roller 1 by rollers 8, preferably as described in Specification 243,909, and similar rollers 12 press the web against the roller 9, the rollers 12 being mounted in a pivoted bracket 13. This bracket can be moved to trip the rollers 12, but is normally held in operative position by a snap-lever 15. To keep the roller 9 clean and free from clogged ink it is moistened after removing the undried ink from the web, preferably by means of a transfer roller 10 symmetrically arranged to the roller 2, and is cleaned by a ductor blade 11.
