Abstract
264,151. Krotoschin, S. Jan. 11, 1926, [Convention date]. Folding boxes; driver-and-shell boxes, tampering with, preventing and detecting.-In a folding box having a closure flap which cannot be released without destroying the box and which is locked in its closed position by inserting a tongue thereon into a gap or slot in the body of the box, the tongue 5<a>, Fig. 3, is provided with lateral locking wings 5<b> which are folded in by about 180‹ before inserting the tongue in the slot, the wings being adapted to open again after insertion of the tongue to prevent subsequent withdrawal. The lateral locking wings may be formed upon T-shaped flanges extending, from one pair of end closure flaps, the flanges being inserted in slots in the other pair of closure flaps. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also other folding boxes which are locked by flanges which engage, inside the box, either with the box wall or with one another so that it is impossible to re-open the box without damaging it. In one form, Fig. 9 (Cancelled), flanges 5, 7 upon the ends 1, 2 of the box engage one another within the box. In other tubular boxes in which flanges at opposite ends of the box engage one another, weakening lines are provided so that upon opening the box and destroying one of the locking flanges the remaining portion of the flange may be used in the ordinary manner as a temporary closure for the box. As applied to flanged slip-on lids upturned flanges b<2>, Fig. 20 (Cancelled), are formed on the lip flange b<1> and engage strips secured to the upper portion of the walls of the body. Alternatively the strips may be replaced by downturned flanges a<4> upon the walls a' of the box. Boxes of this form are preferably opened by separating the flanges b<2> along the crease lines b<3> so that they can still be used as ordinary boxes with slip-on lids. In drawer-and-shell boxes inturned flanges are provided at the ends of the narrow sides of the shell to engage with side flanges upon flaps which are provided at each end of the drawer. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
