Abstract

264,082. Lovelady, H. Aug. 10, 1926. Worm wheels.-In worm wheels, each tooth is so mounted as to adjust itself to the position of the worm and for this purpose is carried on the spherical or rounded end 7 of a pin 3 pinned to the wheel. The tooth is secured in position by a split sleeve 9 and nut 10, play being provided around the pin and the lower edge 14a of the tooth being curved to a smaller radius than the recess 14 in the wheel in the plane shown and to the same radius in the plane at right-angles thereto. The teeth can thus pivot about the longitudinal axis of the pin and also in a direction at right-angles to the length of the teeth about the centre of the end 7.
