Bulbs.-In order to diffuse the light passing through them bulbs are covered with manycornered particles of clear or coloured transparent glass. The glass particles may have a higher melting point than the bulbs, and they may be fixed in position by partially melting the bulb, or during the manufacture of the bulb, after it has been given the required sbape and before it loses its softness.
