Abstract

Stuffing - boxes, substitutes for.-Turbine blades are packed at the tips by providing widened shroud rings c, d which are sharpened on one or both sides and coact with an adjacent packing ring e made of softer material than the shroud rings. The rings e may project sufficiently to reduce as much as possible the lateral shifting of the guide blades required when the upper part of the casing is to be lifted. The rings e may serve also as caulking rings for securing the blades.
