Abstract
263,722. Tyler, E. E. Nov. 1, 1926. Current motors.-A horizontal wheel windmotor comprises fixed L-shaped vanes mounted between angle-section rings D, E, which are supported by tensioned wire spokes K - - N, secured to flanges F, G on the spindles the longer or blade portion R of the vanes is of about twice the area of the shorter or heel portion P, and is set at an angle of 50‹ to 60‹ behind the radial direction. The vanes are stiffened by stays T, which are riveted to the rings D, E, and by steel bars Q, which are held by loops V slit in the vanes and are tied back by stay wires S. The wind-motor may have a number of tiers with the vanes staggered.
