Abstract

263,613. Vale, C. S. Dec. 11, 1925. Disinfectants; vaporizing by heat; vapours and gases, producing by chemical action.-A. disinfecting carton of the kind containing a disinfectant and some substance such as unslaked lime which will generate heat to vaporize the disinfectant when liquid is added to it, comprises a casing having one or more initially sealed openings in the upper part, and the dry charge is not more than half the volume of the container so as to provide an expansion chamber therein. In the form shown in the Figure, the carton consists of a metal or other container A having an opening A' at the top through which water can be introduced. The charge comprises a bag C containing 10 parts of para-formaldehyde, 100 parts of powdered calcined limestone, and this is embedded in 250 parts of unpowdered calcined limestone B. The charge occupies about one-third of the volume of the carton, and the upper part is filled with a removable strip of cotton wool D. In a more permanent form of container, a detachable lid is provided and three charges may be carried in it. only the charge however being left inside when the container is to be used.
