Abstract

263,166. Andreas, A. Dec. 16, 1925, [Convention date]. Shaft kilns.-In a shaft kiln for burning lime, cement &c. the air for combustion and cooling is introduced at a relatively high pressure, e.g. 200 m.m. of water or more, immediately below the clinkering zone and a one or more lower points in the kiln, the supplies at all points being at the same pressure. As shown the air from a fan d is delivered to the space beneath the crushing-rollers f, and through rings of nozzles g in the cooling zone. The air may be heated in separate air heaters or in the walls of the kiln. The kiln tapers downwards from the clinkering zone towards the rollers f, and the hottest portions may be water cooled. In the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) it is stated that the supply of air through the separator conduits may be regulated, that air may also be supplied into the clinkering zone, and that the nozzles g may branch off from spiral conduits. These state,- ments do not appear in the Specification as accepted.
