Abstract
262,487. K. D. P., Ltd., (Assignees of Metallbank und Metallurgische Ges., Akt.- Ges.). Dec. (7, 1925, [Convention date]. Latex, treating.-Fillers are incorporated in untreated, stabilized, thickened, or vulcanized caoutchouc or like latex, without coagulation, by the addition of equivalent amounts of soluble materials which react and precipitate solid products in the latex. In an example, a half gram molecule of ammonium sulphate solution is added to a mixture of 20 gm. of sulphur, 60 gm. of zinc oxide and 400 gm. of 80 per cent latex paste. On the addition of a half gram molecule of barium hydroxide solution, a predipitate of barium sulphate is produced in the latex. Other fillers specified are lithopone, calcium carbonate, silicic acid calcium oxalate, barium carbonate. The conditions of reaction may be so selected that an extremely fine preoipitate is produced or one having a cellular structure. Rubber mixes may be produced by this process having a high tensile strength with a low rubber content.
