Directive signalling; fading, preventing.- In a directional system of wireless, fluctuation of signal strength due to fading is avoided by constantly varying the angle of the beam path. As shown in the Figure, a main " doublet " aerial 1 is backed by two reflector aerials 2, 3 arranged parallel to the first and a quarter wavelength away from it. Each reflector aerial is connected by leads 4, 5 to a variable condenser, the moving vanes 8, 9 of which are rotated bv a motor 10. As the vanes rotate the reflectors 2, 3 are alternately tuned to the fundamental frequency of the main aerial 1, so that first one and then the other determines the directional path of the radiating beam. The angular distance between the reflectors determines the extent of wobble, which may vary according to circumstances. The angular variation may be in the horizontal or vertical plane, and may occur at an audible or supersonic frequency.
