Abstract

A support 10 for rolling a cigarette includes a base 12 and a pair of arms 16 supported above the base. Each arm has an angled surface 18 which oppose each other to form a cradle 36 for supporting a cigarette paper 30. The arms are spaced from the base to form a compartment 22 for receiving a packet 28 of cigarette papers. A gap (24, figure 3) is formed between the arms for receiving a cigarette paper from the packet of cigarette papers. The angled surfaces of the arms may be textured. The support may further include a slot 26 for receiving an accessory 32, such as a pack of cigarette tips, tobacco, herbs, or matches; or a lighter. The slot may be formed by a wall 20 provided on the base and could taper at its distal end 40.

Description

IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO LEISURE ACTIVITIES

The present invention relates to a support for use in rolling a cigarette and to a kit comprising the support and a packet of cigarette papers.

The smoking of self-rolled tobacco or herbal cigarettes continues to be a popular pastime. British American Tobacco, who sell cigarette and vaping products, recently announced that the majority of their profits arise from the sale of cigarettes. Hand-rolling of cigarettes requires some dexterity as the contents of the cigarette need to be balanced along the length of a cigarette paper as the cigarette is being rolled.

A way of ameliorating these problems has been sought.

According to the invention there is provided a support for rolling a cigarette wherein the support comprises a base and a pair of arms wherein each arm has an angled surface wherein the arms are supported above the base such that their angled surfaces oppose each other to form a cradle for supporting a cigarette paper and that the arms are spaced from the base to form a slot for receiving a packet of cigarette papers; wherein a slot is formed between the arms for receiving a cigarette paper from the packet of cigarette papers.

According to the invention there is also provided a kit for rolling a cigarette comprising a support according to the invention and a packet of cigarette papers.

Advantages of the invention include that it provides a convenient way to carry around cigarette papers and to support a cigarette paper while a cigarette is being rolled. Furthermore, the cigarette papers packet is protected whilst the papers are easily accessible.

In some embodiments, each arm may be supported above the base on a wall. In some embodiments, each wall may extend from the base.

In some embodiments, the support may comprise an end wall at the distal end of the cigarette paper packet slot. Advantages of including an end wall include that it helps locating or securing the packet of cigarette papers in the cigarette paper packet slot.

In some embodiments, the support may form one or more slots for receiving an accessory. In some embodiments, an accessory may be a book of cigarette tips, a pack of tobacco or herbs, a pack of matches, and/or a lighter. In some embodiments, the accessory slot may be formed by a wall provided on the base. In some embodiments, the accessory slot may taper at its distal end. The advantages of a tapered accessory slot include that it may grip an accessory to secure it in the accessory slot.

In some embodiments, the angled surfaces of the arms may be textured. Advantages of a textured surface include that it helps preventing a cigarette paper from slipping from the cradle formed by the two arms.

In some embodiments, the kit may have an accessory slot and the kit may further comprise an accessory. In some embodiments, the accessory may be a book of cigarette tips, a pack of tobacco or herbs, a pack of matches, and/or a lighter.

The invention will now be illustrated with reference to the following Figures of the accompanying drawings which are not intended to limit the scope of the claimed invention: FIGURE 1 shows a schematic front perspective view of a support according to the invention and a kit according to the invention which includes the support, a cigarette paper packet, and a book of cigarette tips; FIGURE 2 shows a schematic rear perspective view of the support according to the invention with the book of cigarette tips and a cigarette paper containing a cigarette tip and tobacco; and FIGURE 3 shows a schematic front perspective view of a support according to the invention with the cigarette paper packet partially extended.

A support according to the invention which is for use in rolling a cigarette is indicated generally at 10 on Figures 1 to 3. Support 10 comprises a horizontal base 12, a pair of vertical walls 14, a pair of arms 16, an outer vertical wall 20, and an end wall 38.

The pair of walls 14 are mounted on base 12. Walls 14 are laterally spaced apart on base 12 by a distance which is about the width of cigarette paper packet 28. Each of the walls 14, inclined arms 16, and base 12 has a length which is about the length of cigarette paper packet 28.

Each of the arms 16 forms an angled textured surface 18. Each of the pair of inclined arms 16 is supported on a wall 14 such that the angled surfaces 18 of the inclined arms 16 face each other to form a cradle 36. Each of the pair of inclined arms 16 is supported on wall 14 such that the inclined arms 16 are each spaced from the base 12 by a distance which is about the height of the cigarette paper packet 28 such that the base 12, walls 14, and inclined arms 16 at the proximal end of the support 10 form a first slot 22 for receiving the cigarette paper packet 28. The inclined arms 16 are shaped such that a longitudinal slot 24 is formed for receiving a cigarette paper 30 from the cigarette paper packet 28.

At the distal end of support 10, the end wall 38 is provided between the inclined arms 16 and base 12 to close the end of the first slot 22. The base 12 extends on one side of support 10 to form an accessories slot 26 with outer wall 20. Base 12 and outer wall 20 taper at their tapered distal end 40. Accessories such as a cigarette tip book 32 illustrated in Figures land 2 may be secured in accessories slot 26 by pushing the book 32 into the tapered distal end 40 where the angled part of outer wall 20 grips the distal end of book 32.

In use, a cigarette paper 30 is removed from the cigarette paper packet 28 and placed in cradle 36 as illustrated in Figure 2. A cigarette tip 42 is removed from tip book 32, folded, and placed at the distal end of the cigarette paper 30. Tobacco 34 (or herbs) are placed along the length of the cigarette paper 30 from the tip 42 to proximal end 44. One side of the cigarette paper 30 is folded over the tobacco 34 so that a cigarette (not shown) may be rolled.

A kit according to the invention which is for use in rolling a cigarette is indicated generally at 50 on Figure 1. Kit 50 includes support 10, the cigarette paper packet 28, and an accessory 32 which is in the form of a cigarette tip book. In an alternative embodiment, the accessory 32 may be a pack of tobacco or herbs, a pack of matches, and/or a lighter.

Cigarette paper packet 28 is in the form of a box having an opening along the middle of its upper surface where the packet 28 contains interleaved cigarette papers (not shown).

Claims

CLAIMS1. A support for rolling a cigarette wherein the support comprises a base and a pair of arms wherein each arm has an angled surface wherein the arms are supported above the base such that their angled surfaces oppose each other to form a cradle for supporting a cigarette paper and that the arms are spaced from the base to form a slot for receiving a packet of cigarette papers; wherein a slot is formed between the arms for receiving a cigarette paper from the packet of cigarette papers.
2. A support as defined in Claim 1 wherein the arms are supported above the base on walls.
3. A support as defined in Claim 1 or Claim 2 which comprises a wall at the distal end of the cigarette paper packet slot.
4. A support as defined in any one of the preceding Claims wherein the angled surfaces of the arms are textured.
5. A support as defined in any one of the preceding Claims which forms a slot for receiving an accessory
6. A support as defined in Claim 5 wherein the slot is formed by a wall provided on the base.
7. A support as defined in Claim 5 or Claim 6 wherein the slot tapers at its distal end.
8. A kit for rolling a cigarette comprising a support as defined in any one of the preceding Claims and a packet of cigarette papers.
9. A kit as defined in Claim 8 wherein the support is defined in any one of Claims 5 to 7 and wherein the kit further comprises an accessory.
10. A kit as defined in Claim 9 wherein the accessory is a book of cigarette tips, a pack of tobacco or herbs, a pack of matches, and/or a lighter.
