Abstract

261,611. Smith, W. Prince-, and Waterhouse, D. April 16, 1926. Thread-severing arrangements. - In spinning, twisting, and like machines; especially such machines as are provided with mechanical doffing-mechanism, the yarns or threads are sheared by abrasion and tension as distinct from cutting by means of thread-trapping devices 2, which are mounted on a longitudinally movable bar and embrace a serrated or two-diameter member, such as the screwed rod 4, so that they nip the yarns or threads and cause them to be abraded and tensioned over the salient portions of the member. The devices are supported by brackets on rack pillars actuated by suitable gearing to adjust them into and out of operative position.
