Abstract

Memorandum appliances. - A memorandum appliance comprises a horizontally disposed receptacle 1 which is tapered towards its front end and contains a paper reel 5, the free end 4 of which is passed through an aperture in a top plate 2, and beneath the edge 7 of cutting-device 6. The paper reel 5 is so disposed within the casing that it tends to roll towards the tapered end when it is unrolled by the drawing forward of its free end, thereby frictionally jamming the reel and tensioning the paper over the writing- surface. The top 2 of the casing may be hinged, or, as shown, it may be slidable between grooves in the side walls and spaced slightly from an overlapping covering plate 3 at its top end to allow the paper to pass. A hole 9 is provided in the front wall of the casing to enable a pencil or the like to be inserted to release the reel to facilitate the removal of the sliding cover. A finger recess 8 is cut in the edge of the plate 2 beneath the cutter 6, to enable the free end of the paper to be grasped. Holes 10, 11 are provided in the back and base to allow the receptacle to be secured to a wall or desk &c.
