Abstract

260,486. Cleathero, E. T. April 6, 1926. Bed-reciprocating apparatus. - A cylinder printing - machine is fitted with a bed-reciprocating mechanism of the kind set out in Specifications 14268/97 and 612/05, and the impression cylinder a is driven from the main driving- shaft f by means of a wheel r of twice the diameter of the driven wheel s on the impression cylinder. The bed c is driven in one direction bv a rack d<1> engaged by a gear-sector d. which engages the rack for a third of a revolution of the shaft f, and the bed is driven in the opposite direction by a gear-sector c which rotates at equal speed in the opposite direction to the sector d and engages a rack e<1> on the bed. The sectors d, c may be mounted on a common shaft, the sector e being loose thereon and rotated in a reverse direction. The bed is reversed by an oscillating wheel k operated by a reciprocating rack l controlled by a crank m on a shaft o driven from the shaft f at thrice the speed thereof. The wheel k engages racks i, j on the bed, and controls the reverse motions of the bed for periods corresponding to one-sixth of a rotation of the shaft f.
