The envelope includes, at a location corresponding to the position of the bend of a hook-shaped spectacles arm, a device preferably for folding about a transverses axis and for reducing at said location the distance between the inner edge of the bend of the spectacles arm and the edge of the member provided on that side of the bend 10 interior. Application in hairdressing facilities.
EP 1 662 293 (SCHLEMBACH) discloses a protective sleeve for the arms of spectacles frames, especially against hairdressing chemicals, is a tubular mantle open at one end to be pushed over the frame arms The protective sleeve, for the arms of spectacles frames, provides a longitudinal tube mantle with at least one open end for pushing over the arm. The other end is closed by an embossed welded seam.
The present invention arose in order to overcome problems suffered by existing 20 devices.
Summary of the Invention
According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a spectacle arm protection device comprising a roll of tubular protectors, which protectors comprise elongate rectangular flat tubes of material, comprising two sealed side edges, a sealed end edge and a perforated front edge, wherein the front edge of one protector is located in proximity to the end edge of a sequential protector on the device, so as to allow a user to tear off a protector from the roll.
The protector may comprise two substantially flat opposing faces forming a rectangular protector, which are sealed together along the longitudinal side edges, and one end edge.
In some embodiments it may be envisaged that the device comprises environmentally friendly material. For example the device may be formed in recycled and/or recyclable material. In some embodiments the material may comprise compostable material or biodegradable material.
In some embodiments the device may include an attachment means, for attachment to the spectacles, for example wherein the device may comprise an adhesive or a part that is arranged to be deformed so as to close around the spectacle arm or similar, for example advantageously substantially holding the deformed position after deformation around the arm.
For example in some such embodiments in use the arm is introduced into an open end of the protector and the protector pushed over the arm. A tag with a self-adhesive portion may be used to attach the protector to the arm or to itself once the tag has been wound around the arm.
In some embodiments the material may be paper or cardboard material.
By using a paper altemative to a traditionally plastic product salons can cut their single use plastic waste In some embodiments the material may be a bio-plastic material. In some embodiments the material may be biodegradable.
In some embodiments the material may be a recycled material, for example recycled plastics such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
In some embodiments the protectors may be envisaged to comprise a further flap, which may be substantially coplanar the faces. This flap may be sealed to one of the longitudinal edges and may be sealed at end edges, and free along one longitudinal side edge, so as to enable a long pocket. It may be envisaged that the top of the ear may fit into this pocket to protect from cutting implements or treatment chemicals.
According to a second aspect of the present invention there is provided a spectacle arm protector substantially as described herein.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the Figures in which:
Brief Description of Figures
Figure 1 shows an isometric view of an embodiment of a roll of protectors according to a first aspect of the present invention; Figure 2 shows a reverse isometric view of the embodiment of the roll shown in Figure 1; Figure 3 shows an isometric view of the embodiment of the protector shown on the embodiment of the roll shown in Figure 1; Figure 4 shows a reverse isometric view of the embodiment of the protector shown in 15 Figure 3; Figure 5 shows an isometric view of a pair of spectacles with two embodiments of the protector as shown in Figure 3; And Figure 6 shows a reverse isometric view of the embodiment of the pair of spectacles with the protectors as shown in Figure 5.
Detailaription of Figures With reference to figures 1 and 2 there is shown an embodiment of a device 199 comprising a roll of tubular protectors 99, which protectors comprise elongate rectangular flat tubes of material, comprising two sealed side edges 12, a sealed end edge 14 and a perforated front edge 11, wherein the front edge of one protector is located in proximity to the end edge of a sequential protector on the device, so as to allow a user to tear off a protector from the roll.
With reference to Figures 3 and 4 there is shown an embodiment of a device 99 35 generally comprising a protector which comprises an elongate rectangular flat tube of material, with two sealed side edges 12, a sealed end edge 14 and a perforated front edge 11, wherein the front edge of one protector is located in proximity to the end edge of a sequential protector on the device, so as to allow a user to tear off a protector from the roll.
The protectors provide a protective sleeve for the arms of spectacles to be used when colouring hair so as to stop any bleach or tint from touching and staining a user's spectacles.
It may be envisaged that advantageously the paper material is easy for stylists to 10 manipulate around hair foils.
A hydrophobic coating is added to the paper to ensure no water, dye or bleach can pass through the paper to damage the glasses frame.
It may be envisaged that the roll is made from recycled paper, which material is biodegradable and can be composted once all traces of bleach have been removed.
In this way the embodiment advantageously and without limitation provides an improvement on current products on the market by utilising environmentally friendly 20 and recyclable materials in the place of the current plastic solutions.
The protectors have seams down the long sides, and at one end, namely the closed end, which seams may be embossed together to ensure a secure seal.
Logos and branding may be envisaged to be easily applied to the protectors.
The edges of the ends are perforated to allow the protectors to be produced in a roll, such that the closed end has a tab with a perforated edge 15 extending past the seam, and the open end has a perforated edge 11, meaning the protectors can be 30 easily ripped off for use.
The dimensions of each embodiment of the protector are 150 mm long by 25 mm wide. The protectors are slid along the arms 105 of spectacles 100.
It may be envisaged that the protectors can be produced in different widths for use with different frame designs.
In use the user will: Rip off two sleeves from the roll and slide onto each arm.
Colour the client's hair as usual, their glasses are protected.
Remove the sleeves from the glasses, rinse thoroughly and dispose.
The sleeves have been designed with a folded edge which sits comfortably against the ear. A straight design allows the protectors to be made in a continuous roll, so as to advantageously reduce manufacture cost and aid packaging design.
The invention has been described by way of examples only and it will be appreciated 15 that variation may be made to the above-mentioned embodiments without departing from the scope of invention as defined by the claims, in particular but not solely combination of features of described embodiments.
