Abstract

259,932. Touron, A. Nau-. Oct. 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Spindle apparatus.- Means for automatically regulating the drag in spinning machines comprises a bar 3 normally moving with but adapted to slide on a bar 1 connected to a frame operated by an adjustable crank pin 30 on a plate 32, which is driven by an adjustable roller 37 on a planet wheel 36 freely mounted on a rotatable plate 42 and gearing with a toothed ring in a fixed ring 39. The plate 42 is geared by means of a wheel 44 with worm gearing 46, Fig. 3, operated by a ratchet wheel 50, which is actuated at the end of each upward lift by reason of the contact of an arm 57, integral with a plate 55 carrying the pawls, with an adjustable spring-. controlled stop 60. A spring 67 and a stop 61, similarly adjustable as the stop 60, mounted on a support 65 on the lifting rail serve to maintain the plate 55 in a determined position for the desired operation by the stop 60. A plate 12 at the rear of the lifting rail is movable relatively thereto to adjust the angle of contact # of the drag cord by means of a toothed sector and crank 74. The initial angle of contact a of the drag cord is determined by adjusting the. bar 1, and the drag may be temporarily relieved by moving the bar 3 relatively to the bar 1 by means of a handle 75 against the action of a spring 4. The pulleys 5, over which the drag cord passes, are carried on adjustable supports 7 on the bar 3. A metal boss 80, Fig. 7, is coupled to each bobbin and is provided with a groove 81 for the drag cord.
