Abstract

A support structure for use with a ladder or similarly functioning access platform. The support structure has an extendible first section attached to an extendible second section, the first section being substantially perpendicular to the second section, wherein the first section is adapted to be laterally extendible from the side rails or stiles and the second section is extendible to allow ground engaging means located remote from the first section to contact the ground, in use, and a coupling for connecting the support structure to the stiles, the coupling being positioned remote from the connector. The support structure is preferably located near the mid-point between the top and bottom of the ladder and greatly improves the stability of the ladder in use.
