Description
My invention is an improved adjustable scaffold bracket used mainly with frame scaffold in the masonry trade but it is not limited to being applied to all types of scaffold.
This invention serves two main objectives. One, the post can be extended to accompany more than the normal two foot planks if needed or desired, an example depicted in Figure 3. The second purpose is that the extending piece keeps foot planks perfectly parallel along the scaffold when scaffold frames are off plumb, level or alignment, as shown in Figure 2. This keeps foot planks flat and promotes a safer working pl.atform.
Aside from the two main objectives this extending bracket is an improvement over prior art because the telescoping piece is un-separable from the bracket, unlike prior art where only a locking pin holds the telescoping piece within the bracket. This extending piece is also lockable by a pin where added safety and less movement is desired.
The innovative feature of the bracket, the telescopic arm may be incorporated into any type of bracket, used with any type of scaffold where the only piece that changes is the arm which supports the foot planks. For reference, in Figure 1, 2 and 3 the invention is depicted as being incorporated into the industry nonnal bracket design.
Other important objects and advantageous features of any invention will be apparent from the following description and accompanying drawings, wherein for present purpose of illustration only, specific embodiments of the invention are set forth in detail.
In the drawings:
Figure I is a perspective view of an industry normal standard bracket with the innovative telescopic ann incorporated into the design.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a section of scaffold which is.miss-aligned and where the invention amidst the bracket is shown carrying out its intended purpose.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of a section of scaffold where the invention amidst the bracket is shown extended to carry three foot planks.
Referring to the drawings in detail, in Figure 1 the numeral 1, 2, 3 and 4 designate an industry nonnal frame scaffold bracket where I is a hook that connects to the scaffold which is connected to 3 a cylindrical post which at the bottom there is 2 a hook that keeps the bracket fixed to the frame. 4 is a diagonal support which is connected from 3 to 5. Where 5 is the first part of the invention which is connected to 3 on one side and 4 on the bottom side. 5 is a cylindrical tube that has 6 a cut within to allow 8 the plank stopper to extrude tluough allowing a sliding movement. 8 the plank stoppers are connected to 7 a cylindrical tube telescopically smaller than 5. 8 the plank stoppers connected to 7 the smaller than 5 cylindrical tube slide within 5 the larger cylindrical tube allowing expandability of plank surface. 8 connected to 7 is permanently trapped within 5 because 8 the plank stoppers extrude through 6 the cut in 5 sliding back and forth only as much as desired before being stopped by the end of 6 the cut and 3 the main connected tube. The telescopic motion of 8 and 7 within 5 can also be locked by 9 a locking pin which passes through drilled holes to prevent movement. Holes other than that of which 9 the pin is depicted passing through were left out for clarity.
In Figure 2 the numeral 10 represents as a whole, an industry normal bracket with the innovative telescopic arm incorporated into its design. Refer to Figure 1 and its description for a detailed parts breakdown as certain parts are not depicted in this drawing for clarity. The numerals 12 and 13 represent a section of scaffold where 12 indicates the frames and 13 indicates the braces.
Other unimportant scaffold accessories were left out for clarity. 10 the brackets are shown engaged to 12 the scaffold frames. 11 represents industry normal 16' planks which are lay atop 10 the brackets to provide a walking platform. The middle scaffold frame 12 is misaligned by being too far back, this is evident by the numeral 14 which shows a greater space between the foot planks and the frame when compared to 12 the outer frames. This space is compensated by 10 the middle bracket telescoping outward and clasping the planks where they lay inline with 12 the two outer frames. All of 10 the brackets innovative telescoping arm can be locked from telescopic motion by a pin to prevent movement. This pin is visible within 10 the brackets but description was left out for clarity, reference to this locking pin can be found within Figure 1 and its accompanying description.
In Figure 3 the numera110 represents as a whole, an industry normal bracket with the innovative telescopic arm incorporated into its design. 10 the brackets are shown engaged to 12 the scaffold fiames.11 represents industry normal 16' planks which are lay atop 10 the brackets to provide a walking platform. In this drawing 10 the brackets are fully extended to accompany three foot planks so to enlarge the working platform. Only two planks are straddled in between the plank stoppers as the th'vd is straddled by the scaffold frame and the one back plank stopper. Reference to the plank stopper is depicted in Figure 1 and its accompanying description and was left out of this drawing for clarity.
