Abstract

259,359. Morris, H., and Thorburn Bros., Ltd., W. Sept. 4, 1925. Shedding-motions; healds and leashes. - Designs such as trade marks. names, &c. are. produced in the selvages of woven fabrics, for example as shown in Fig. 3, by arranging the dobby mechanism to actuate the several selvage warps without the use of multiple leaves. The selvage warps are passed through healds D connected bv rods F attached to cords G which pass over pulleys H and are attached to dobby levers B. Each lever B controls two corresponding warp threads in the two selvages. The pulleys H are mounted in frames K and are adjustable in height by the provision of holes M for the reception of the spindle on which the pulleys are mounted. The lower parts 0 of the frames a.re provided with holes for guiding the rods F. The healds are weighted by levers R provided with rubbing-cheeks U to prevent their entanglement. The body of the fabric is woven by the dobbyoperated heald shafts in the ordinary manner. Where the selvage warps are of a different material from that of the body of the fabric, they are supplied from a separate warp-beam having a separate tensioning-device.
