Abstract

258,859. Revelli, B. A. Sept. 28, 1925, [Convention date]. Breech actions, drop-down barrel. - A multibarrelled drop-down pistol has a firing pin for each barrel and a single hammer adapted to strike each firing pin in turn. As shown, there are six barrels arranged in three rows of two. The firing pins 19 pass through the face-plate 9 of the breech body, the top and bottom pair being inclined so that the rear ends of the six pins are at the corners of a regular hexagon. The hammer comprises a sliding cylindrical block 12 having an eccentric hammer head 18, and a collar 17 engaged by the sear 21. The outer surface of the cylinder is formed with a zig-zag slot 14, 15 engaged by a spring plunger 28, Fig. 5. The sear 21 is pivoted to the sliding trigger 20 and to a link 23 pivoted to the frame. When the trigger is pulled the hammer is retracted until the sear slips from the shoulder 17, and is then driven forwards by its spring 13, Fig. 5. During the rearward movement, the hammer is rotated one step by the plunger 28 engaging the inclined slot 15. A safety device comprises a cranked lever 29, Fig. 5, one arm of which engages the front of the hammer while the other bears on the top of the sear, so that the hammer cannot go completely forwards while the trigger remains unpulled. The barrel block has a bottom lump 8, Fig. 8, and side projections 5 engaging projections 6 on the body, and is locked by a sliding breech cover 7. For loading purposes, the six cartridges are held in a perforated plate 27 adapted to be inserted in the gun. When the breech is opened the plate 27 is pressed back by an extractor which is operated by a lever turning on the hinge-pin 2.
