Abstract

258,740. Mascio, V. di. Oct. 16, 1925. Stationary mixers with rotary stirrers. -A stirrer and scraper for a boiling pan comprises a number of sections loosely supported side by side in a revoluble frame and resting with their edges on the pan bottom, or pressed into engagement. therewith by springs; the frame is carried by a vertical spindle driven from a horizontal shaft through gearing mounted in an oil-tight case. The sections Y, Fig. 1, which may be perforated, are provided with stops Y<2> to prevent them falling through the frame Z, Z', Z<2>, and the spindle B is mounted in a bearing X and a sleeve 0 on a cross bar E carrying the driving gear. As shown in Fig. 4, the worm gear G is mounted in a cavity in the gear box F and is provided with a central boss or spigot S for attaching to the spindle N; the spindle N is coupled to the spindle V by forming flats W thereon. The horizontal worm shaft is enclosed in a tube M. Springs may be provided between the projections Y<2> and frame Z.
