Abstract

256,844. Ashton, A. Dec. 22, 1925. Coilers.-The lid b of a carding-engine coiler box a is locked by means of a catch-plate i and a spring-controlled bolt d, co-axial with the roller c<1>, which bolt can only be withdrawn from engagement with the plate i when the rollers c<1>, c<2> are stationary. In the locking position, the larger upper portion of the slot j, Fig. 3, in the plate i is occupied by a boss g on the bolt d, longitudinal movement of the bolt d being prevented by a pin g<1>. When the rollers are stationary, the pin g' may be advanced in a spiral slot h<1> in a cylinder h secured to the roller c<1>, the boss g then leaving the plate i and permitting the said plate to be lifted over the bolt d. The box a may also be locked by means of a plate l depending from the bolt d and having a forked end normally engaging beneath the enlarged end m<1> of an upright m. In an alternative arrangement, the cvlinder h is mounted on the bolt d while the pin g<1> is on the roller c<1>.
