Abstract

A backrest adjusting mechanism, adapted for an infant car seat has a base 10, a seat 20 slidably connected to the base and a backrest 30 pivoted to the seat. The backrest adjusting mechanism includes a sliding slot structure 61 and a connecting rod 62. The sliding slot structure is disposed on the base and arranged along a sliding direction of the seat. The connecting rod is fixed on the seat and slidably cooperates with the sliding slot structure. When the seat slides relative to the base, the seat drives the backrest to abut against the base at different positions, so as to adjust an angle of the backrest relative to the seat. The backrest adjusting mechanism may also have a positioning assembly 64 located on the seat which may cooperate with an engaging portion 63 located on the base. The engaging portion may have multiple engaging holes and the positioning assembly may contain a locking component, a driving component and an operating component. The base preferably has an inclined or raised contacting surface 11 with which the bottom portion of the backrest contacts as it moves.
