Abstract

255,208. Fisher, F. June 22, 1925. Checking shuttles and pickers.-The cranked end B of a swell A is resiliently secured upon an integral stud portion D of a bracket E secured to the shuttle-box back, the swell projecting into the shuttle-box to act on the shuttle in such a manner that the greater part of the shuttle is brought into contact with the straight part of the swell and the shuttle-box back. The stud D passes freely through an aperture C in the cranked portion of the swell and is provided with an adjustable spring F resting in a recess G in the swell. In some cases, an adjustable curved blade spring secured to a bracket on the shuttle- :box and resting on the cranked portion of the swell is used in place of the spiral spring F. A blade spring secured to the stud and resting on the middle portion of the swell is provided to prevent vibration. The inner part of the cranked end of the swell is curved at K for bearing on the bracket E when the shuttle is not in the box. Rebound of the picker P is prevented by its engagement by the swell. The free end of the swell engages the stop-rod finger L.
