Moulding-machines with fixed mould tables; clearing apparatus; feeding; delirery; dies; lubricating.-A moulding-machine of the type in which a reciprocating feed-box delivers charges of clay intermittently between upper and lower pressing dies is adapted to mould tiles, slabs, and similar thin articles on their edges, so that the faces can be burnished by being rubbed against the walls of the die during the process of ejection. The invention is illustrated as applied to a machine for moulding several mosaic tiles simultaneously. A lower die b shown in Figs. 6 and 7 receives the charge of clay dust in the recesses b<3> and co-operates with the serrated edge t<2> of the upper die T, Fig. 4. Each recess b<3> forms a complete tile. The upper die is lowered by a press screw (not shown), and the lower die is raised by a treadle (not shown) against the. action of a weight. The sliding feed-table d, carrying the hopper f, is reciprocated by the lever Z between the position illustrated, and that in which the front edge of the plate k leads directly to the slot m in the die-box. The hopper is mounted on bracket s and pressed downwards by springs r<2> so that it rests against a roller h. A hinged door f<3> is fixed in such a position that clay dust escapes from the opening f<1> when the roller is rotated anticlockwise, and passes over the spring-vibrated plate k to the slot m. A pivoted pawl-carrying plate v co-operates with the fixed studs w, x to transmit the necessary rotation to the roller shaft. The table d also carries a spring-mounted levelling-scraper p for removing excess material delivered to the dies, and an ejecting and lubricating comb g which registers with the apertures b<3> in the lower die to push the finished tiles laterally from the die, and is furnished with a slot containing felt g<5> soaked in paraffin to lubricate the recesses in the lower die after the ejecting process.
