Abstract
A booklet that acts as an extended business card is created two sheets to a page, the page being perforated in the centre to allow the sheets to be separated. Each sheet has a covering of cohesive glue on one side and is printed on the other side. The sheets are then folded in half so that the printed side is within the fold. Multiple sheets are placed back to back so that the glued sides are in contact. A separate cover with a pre-scored spine is then wrapped around the sheets whereupon the whole is clamped and trimmed. The booklet is preferably handmade.

Description of the products used to process the
Handmade Business Card Book Material: MultiLoft board The MultiLoft sheets function similarly to Double Thick Postcard. Each sheet is 325gsm thick with print surface on the top side and cohesive glue on the reverse. Once printed, the front and back sheets are assembled glue on glue. Under the pressure from the trimming clamps of a guilotine seals the sheets to form an impressive 650gsm thick card! Process of creasing and perforating: (indicated in blue & black) as Figure 1 Using a letterpress machine 2 creasing rules and a perforating rule are set up as a pre-made block which has been created from artwork.
Process of creasing the cover (indicated in blue & black) COVER ONLY: Using the same letterpress machine 2 creasing rules have been set to the right distance apart in order to create a 4mm spine for the inside pages to fit and hit from the printed side of the sheet.
Process of kiss-cutting: (indicated in red) COVER ONLY: Using a letterpress machine 2 special cutting rules are set up again to the right distance apart (same as the crease rules on the cover) and made to kiss cut (with precision cuts the board 1/3rd of the thickness and not all the way through on the front side of the cover (printed side). This enables the book to lay flat after cutting to size otherwise if just scored the grain of the board will fight to close.
Finished book: Once put together it is then put under a guillotine clamp and cut to size which will end up 85mm x 56mm The finishing process of the Handmade Business Card Book Adhesive side which folds up on itself, example page 2 folds against page 3 then page 6 folds against page 7 then you put page 4 against page 5 folding flat and knocked up to the spine put both parts under a guillotine and put clamp pressure in order for the adhesive coating to adhere to itself, which then leaves page 1 and page 8 free to fix inside the cover. (as in Figure 1) These 2 sections are now put together and flattened under pressure so as the co-hesive coating adheres together with itself Looking down from a top view of the business card book you see how the pages have joined together leaving the back of page 1 and page 8 exposed with adhesive ready to join together with the seperate cover page adhereing inside of the front and back cover (as in figure 2) The cover is scored from the inside (adhesive side) first and then kiss-cut from the front (Printed side) on the same lines as the creased in order for the book to lay flat after the inner section is put inside the cover, and again put under pressure from the clamp of the guillotine.
The Business card book as you can see from our own copy below can have several different methods of print which gives the client a unique version of their own business card web pages.
This is the finished product which shows all the processes which are unique in the field of embossing and foiling. This new idea of a business card book shows all aspects of the clients business in many forms of print be it in 1 colour, 2 colours or 4 colours, it can have coloured foils or just embossed or debossed effects. The choice of methods can vary depending on the client's corporate company identity (colours ect), As you can see our version of the book contains a 4 colour process inside with silver foil bands running through, and black foil text on top of the silver foil bands. We have also included a bronze foil as the spot on the front cover and inside the back page this is also debossed to leave that deep impression in the board. Claim
