Abstract

A reservoir is provided to receive refrigerant from a first heat exchanger of a heat pump system when the heat pump system switches from a cooling or defrost mode to a heating mode. The reservoir is disposed fluidly between the first heat exchanger and a second heat exchanger of the heat pump system. The refrigerant flowing from the first heat exchanger to the reservoir is driven by a pressure difference between an outlet port of the first heat exchanger and an inlet of the reservoir.
