Locking nuts.-In a nut-lock of the type having two threaded components divided by a plane which is inclined to the normal plane at right angles to the axial plane of the bolt, the points of intersection of the threads with the inclined faces of the components are equally spaced on either side of an axial plane passing through the axis of the bolt. For instance in a nut-lock comprising two components a, b divided by an inclined plane, the points e, f are equally spaced on opposite sides of the axis B-B so that on turning the components face to face a continuous thread runs through them when their facets are in alignment. In a modification in which the inclined faces are spaced apart but parallel in the unlocked position, the points of intersection of the threads of the components with the inclined faces are situated on either side of the axis B-B at a distance corresponding to half the arc of the thread determining the distance between the two components when their inclined faces are parallel and when their facets are in alignment. The components are turned relatively to each other to lock.
