252,179. Uhlig, P. May 18, 1925, [Convention date]. Packeting by wrapping-up.-Relates to machines for wrapping caramels or the like and in which the wrapping is carried out in a rotating mould-wheel. According to the invention, the mould wheel is fitted with means, such as a flap or spring, for holding an additional printed sheet for incorporation in the packet so as to be visible through an outer wrapper of their transparent material. As shown, a strip a is fed from a bobbin d, Fig. 1. by an intermittently rotating roller b, into the grip of a tongue, e co-opemating with a side f of the receiving mould. The strip is printed by a stamp k while at rest and at the same time a knife h cuts off a sheet. The sheet is carried round by a rotation of the mould wheel to the securing position, where a plunger p thrusts an article into the mould, carrying with it a waxed or like wrapper drawn from a reel n and cut off by a. knife g. At the moment of insertion, a counter-plunger o raises the side f, and a tongue r prevents the wrapper from disturbing the sheet a, the condition now being as shown in Fig. 2. After two further intermittent rotations, the partially wrapped packet arrives opposite the ejecting point and a spring-mounted roller s folds the outstanding flap of the wrapper over the sheet into the position shown in Fig. 3. An ejector t removes the packet from the wheel to a position in which folders u, v continue the folding. The side f and tongue e coincide with only half of the side of the article when in the mould so that the sheet may be carried out easily with the wrapper. The ends of the wrapper may be twisted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that roller-shaped objects may be dealt with by the machine..
